Participating in The First Ordination Ceremony of 2 Maha Sangha Parties, Vaishali India. October 10th-13th, 2019

This trip started on October 10th, 2019 2:00 a.m. from Suvarnabhumi airport Thailand. It took around 8 hours to arrive at Patna airport India. From there we took 2 buses. There were around 70 people joining the trip with us.

The road trip from Patna airport to Vivatta Pathama Bhikkhuni Mahapajapati Gotami Arahanta Theri Jayanti 2600 Mahavihara where located in Vaishali India took about 4 hours. When we arrived at Vivatta Pathama Bhikkhuni, we joined with participants who arrived before us decorating the place with flower and rehearsed for the coming ceremony. That would be the end of day 1.

Day 2 October 11th, 2019. We woke up around 6:00 a.m. and had breakfast at the hotel. When we were about to leave the hotel, it rained heavily. Normally during this time of the year, temperature in Vaishali is around 40C. However due to the rain, temperature was lowered to 27 C which was quite comfortable for us. The main activity of today was to have one’s head shaved. There were 10 men and 3 women becoming 10 Bhikkhu 2 Bhikkhuni and 1 Samaneri on October 12th, 2019. After completed their head shaved ceremony, it was the end of day 2.

Day 3 October 12th, 2019. We woke up very early around 4:00 a.m. because it was the day we were waiting for. It was the day for ordination ceremony of 2 Maha Sangha parties in 2 Mahavihara in the sametime. The ceremony took the whole day. The drizzling during the time of ceremony kept temperature as low as 25 C which quite unusual during this time of the year in Vaishali.
